Business Development Manager – Pooja Caterers (Wellingborough)

Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role for a Business Development Manager at Pooja Caterers in Wellingborough. The Business Development Manager will be responsible for identifying and pursuing new business opportunities, building relationships with potential clients, and managing client accounts. Key responsibilities include market research, developing and implementing business strategies, negotiating contracts, and ensuring customer satisfaction. They will also collaborate with the operations and culinary teams to align offerings with market demands and client needs.
Qualifications
Proven skills in Business Development, Sales, and Strategic Planning
Experience with Client Relationship Management and Negotiation
Proficiency in Market Research and Data Analysis
Strong Communication, Presentation, and Interpersonal skills
Ability to work on-site, independently, and collaboratively with cross-functional teams
Understanding of the hospitality industry; catering experience is a plus
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field is preferred
Strong organizational and time management abilities
Key Responsibilities
Identify and develop new business opportunities including corporate catering, events, wholesale, and retail partnerships
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and partners
Develop and execute growth strategies to increase sales and market presence
Explore new markets and distribution channels across the UK
Work closely with the operations team to align business development with delivery capabilities
Prepare proposals, negotiate contracts, and close deals
Monitor market trends, competitors, and customer needs
Represent the business at events, exhibitions, and networking opportunities
Requirements
Proven experience in business development, sales, or a similar role (food industry experience preferred but not essential)
Strong communication and negotiation skills
Ability to work independently and take initiative
Commercial mindset with a focus on results and growth
Good understanding of customer acquisition and retention strategies
Flexible and adaptable approach to work
Full UK driving licence is preferred

Pooja Caterers is looking for an experienced and motivated Catering Manager to join our team. We are a well-established, family-run business with a strong reputation in pure vegetarian Indian catering, operating since 1992 and delivering events across the UK.
The Catering Manager will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day catering operations, managing staff, and ensuring high standards of food quality and customer service across all events.
Key responsibilities include planning and coordinating catering for events of different sizes, managing kitchen and service staff, overseeing food preparation and presentation, maintaining hygiene, health and safety standards, liaising with clients before and during events, managing stock, suppliers, and basic cost control, and supporting the business owner with operational decisions.
The ideal candidate should have previous experience in catering or hospitality management, strong leadership and organisational skills, good communication skills, and the ability to work under pressure during busy events. Knowledge of Indian cuisine and large-scale catering will be a strong advantage. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and event days is essential.
